About the Communications Center
The Dewey Beach Police Department Communications Center serves as the vital link between the public and our officers in the field. Staffed by four full-time dispatchers and a Communications Supervisor, the center operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Dispatchers work 12-hour shifts to ensure continuous coverage, answering emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police units, and providing critical information to first responders. In addition to coordinating responses, dispatchers monitor radio traffic, track officer safety, and serve as the calm voice guiding callers through high-stress situations. Their commitment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively are essential to the safety and efficiency of both our community and our department.
